When Tears Are In Your Eyes

I watch you play silently in your palace of dreams,
imagination running free, how real it all seems.

I look into your eyes and I see my early days,
it does not seem so long ago when I felt that way.

I remember oh so clearly those moments of pleasure,
when plastic horses, games and dolls where my only treasure.

As I watch you act out the  fantasies in your mind,
I know in my heart that some will be left behind.

Too bad that the world can't stay the way you see it to be,
with roses for a bed and man to be treated equal and free.

My darling daughter so innocent and so sweet,
what does the future hold for you, what challenges will you meet?

So many winding paths you will walk to find the right one,
you will climb many hills before you are done.

I don't know what tell you, I don't know what to say,
other than I will be right here to guide you all the way.

When those days seem long and empty know that I am here,
to love, comfort and to toss away all those scary fears.

Know that it is okay for you to need someone to hold ,
just call out my name and I will shelter you from the cold.

I will tell you stories of when you were young and hold you when you sigh,
I will softly kiss you on the check when tears are in your your eyes.
